William Paul

William was born in Montreal, and spent much of his life being educated on University Street in Montreal.  After completing high school at FACE (Fine Arts Core Education) at 3449 University, he pursued the double DEC programme in Music and Pure & Applied Science at Marianopolis college.  His undergrad saw his return downtown, this time to 3600 University, to study physics at McGill.  During the last two summers of his undergrad, he worked in Roland Bennewitz' nanomechanics group at McGill on projects involving friction force microscopy on ultrathin films of KBr on Cu(100) and liquid environment AFM design.  William spent a year as a M.Sc. candidate at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario under the supervision of Alastair McLean where he contributed to the design of a new low temperature STM.
