Shawn Fostner

A graduate student in the molecular electronics subgroup, using the JEOL 4500 AFM/STM/SEM. My primary interests are nanofabrication of metallic wires and contacts through electromigration, nanostencil evaporation, and field induced deposition from metallic tips. We are working on building a fully UHV molecular device using a variety of these techniques, and I work with other students on insulating substrates as well as metal and molecule growth and dynamics towards these goals.

I'm from Russell, Ontario, and completed my BSc in Physics at the University of Guelph in 2003. I finished my MSc in physics at McGill in 2005 and am now working on my PhD.

I am currently finishing, and should be completed my thesis this summer (2010).
